The Importance of Food as Medicine
Whole food nutrition is a phrase frivolously thrown around which has consequently detracted from its meaning. We believe that health is grounded in the therapeutic use of food and embrace the decades of research linking the healthiest people to their ancestral diet and lifestyle. This differs greatly from the simplicity of organic, non-GMO and gluten-free labeling to qualify a food as healthy or whole.
Dr. Krail-Javier, DNP has studied nutrition science for over 30 years and is a board-certified nutritional consultant through the American Naturopathic Medical Certification Board.
Through her extensive course work and continuous research, she has adopted principles of effective nutrition therapy and lifestyle medicine advocated by early nutritional pioneers and renowned leaders in the fields of medicine, biochemistry, and dentistry. Philosophies based on whole food nutrition that support good health and longevity in modern civilization serves as the foundation for her personalized recommendations.
She believes nutrition is foundational to good health and optimal body function. This means that the diet upon which your body thrives is the foundation upon which everything else is built. Without a solid foundation no amount of therapy, holistic or otherwise, can be fully effective because it is working against a weakened terrain.
Many disease processes can be traced back to long-standing nutrient deficiencies which are becoming more prevalent as our food becomes increasingly adulterated and chemically farmed.
It’s important to know where your food comes from, how it was grown or how it was raised, and what exactly is in, or not in the food you are eating.
It is also important to know which foods may be interacting negatively with your body and causing problems as well as those which will best support your unique needs. What is good for someone else, may not be good for you and vice versa. While certain laws of nutrition apply to everyone, such as eating a balance of fresh organic, locally grown, whole foods, and avoiding too much sugar, your diet should be tailored to your condition, address your underlying deficiencies, and should evolve regularly with your progress, circumstances or any physiologic changes that occur along your journey.
Unlike most practitioners, Dr Krail- Javier, DNP will be intimately involved with tracking your nutrition as she believes food is the most important form of medicine. Likewise, she understands that given the circumstances, food can also be the worst form of poison hindering your progress and keeping you sick.
Your diet requires an intricate balance of nutrients in the right amounts, at the right time and from the right sources to function optimally rather than just to sustain life, there is a big difference!
Oftentimes, food and lifestyle choices are not easy to navigate. Unfortunately, there is a tremendous amount of confusion, conflicting information, opposing viewpoints, bad advice, and downright deceit surrounding nutrition that comes at us from all angles.
What you may think is a nutritious food can be harming your health or what you believe to be an unhealthy food may actually be highly beneficial.

Personalized Nutrition Programs and Consults
Nutrition programs are personalized to meet the needs of each patient and are accompanied by lifestyle counseling focused on food sourcing, meal preparation, label clarification, recipes, nutrition resources, ways to make better choices, and how to incorporate those choices into your lifestyle for long term success, regardless of how hectic your days may be.
We focus on your specific goals with the identification and removal of food allergies, intolerances, and triggers that may be exacerbating autoimmune, allergic, or other symptoms, BUT we do not want to keep you restricted!
The key to success is working toward diversifying the diet as much as possible once underlying dysfunction has been addressed, then finding which foods and eating patterns work best for you at this moment and time. Correction of nutrient deficiencies is prioritized using a combination of designed clinical nutrition and diet modification.
Designed clinical nutrition refers to a specifically prepared nutrition and supplement plan using real food in its most naturally occurring state that has been shown to effectively achieve time tested clinical results in large numbers of patients. It typically involves the use of concentrated whole food supplements with therapeutic effects that enable the body’s repair process and allow for healthy tissue growth. An unfortunate truth is that most commercially available foods are of poor quality and have been largely devitalized.
Together with poor eating habits and daily routines out of sync with ancestral living and natural environments, the suboptimal food supply heavily contributes to deficiencies that can cause organ stress leading to chronic illness.
These concentrated real food supplements are used to replace nutrients you are either not getting, or not able to absorb or assimilate from your diet. They are preserved with active enzymes and naturally occurring vital components and are designed to work with the body to fulfill its needs.
We cannot detach our nutrition from sleep, physical activity, stress, or relationships. All aspects of our life work synergistically to determine our state of health. Lifestyle counseling includes ways to improve your health from a holistic perspective because if one aspect is “off” others cannot function optimally and health can be compromised.
Your program may require focus on one or more of the following:
- Weight Loss
- Macronutrient and Micronutrient Balance
- Fasting
- Elimination or Biphasic Diet
- Purification and Cleansing
- Gut Restoration
- Microbiome Balance
- Optimal Performance
- Nutritional Supplementation
